Like most people we aren’t really celebrating Valentines Day like we usually do - aka we’ll be at home! That, and the fact that we’re still getting settled in our home, we didn’t pull out all the stops on Valentines decorations. We did want to make something, so we came up with upcycling a wreath with some yarn pom poms. Overall we love how different it is and that it let us do valentines in a more neutral way!

To make this DIY you’ll need:

  • Yarn (2-3+ colors - we used white, tan and beige)

  • Scissors

  • Heart Shaped Wreath frame (or any wire/plastic wreath frame)

Note: you CAN use those pom-pom making contraptions but we just used our hands and found that to be the best way for us to make poms!

To get started, you’ll want to remove any current decoration on the wreath frame you have if you’re upcycling like we are! For ours, we were able to pull off/cut off any of the previous shiny garland on it. If you’re starting with a plain one, you can skip this step!

Once clear and ready to go, you’ll want to start making your poms in various sizes and colors. Like we mentioned, you can use a tool to help you make them like this or use your hands like we did! We’ve added a video below to share how we did this!

Once you’ve made your poms (and made some more) you’ll want to start assembling them onto your plastic/wire wreath. There’s no perfect way to do this, just assemble with what looks right to you! We made ours more random but you could also apply the poms in a pattern if you wanted!
